Hyun Jung Kim was born in South Korea and grew up to became an elementary school teacher. In 2008, Hyun Jung and her sons Randy and Eric moved to Duluth, a city known as Koreatown in Georgia, for a better life, the preservation of rich Korean history and great acceptance of Korean-Americans. On March 16, 2021, Hyun Jung and 5 other Asian women were shot to death at the spa. The shooting was by the 21-year-old white man Robert Aaron Long. Hyun Jung worked hard to feed her children. She worked at Gold spa which was 30 miles away from her place. To save time, she often slept over at the Spa. She would work 4, 5 months straight without break. A week before the shooting, Hyun Jung discovered an electronic music song called “The Business” by Tiesto. Randy had already heard the song. Hyun Jung and Randy danced around, laughed and smiled. It would be the last time they would.
