Maggie was a senior at Platte Canyon High School and had come home to prepare for a school concert that she was helping organize. Maggie was burned alive in her Bailey, CO home on Dec. 1, 2017, after she walked in on a group of men robbing the home. Maggie was found dead in her home days after it was set on fire. The fire was declared an arson and Maggie’s death was ruled a homicide. The 2017 killing of 17-year-old Maggie Long is now being investigated as a possible hate crime. It is still unknown who killed Maggie. There may have been 4 people involved. Maggie was passionate about everything. She had a fierce love for community-involvement and student organizations. Teachers and friends described Maggie as kind, altruistic, genuine, ambitious and majestic – one of her favorite words.
